Random Acts Of Kindness
The past few weeks, have been a struggle to say the least. I have been dealing with a rejection of my cornea transplant. After 10 months of a successful recovery I was shocked and disappointed when my cornea started to cloud over. Within four days my healthy new cornea went from a little foggy to full white. Apparently the trigger was an overabundance of antibodies brought on by my body battling and overcoming a cold. Who knew? Well I do now!
Try as I might I just could not get my normal amount of work done with one eye. Emails were a challenge, trying to read frustrating and normal search engine optimization was impossible. Not good problems to have when you work for yourself. As well I had tons of ideas for posts for my blog in my head but I physically was unable to type them.
Every morning I started out trying to focus with one eye but by noon I was exhausted. I realized I needed help, but with no one available, I was stalled. My son discovered a program called Dragon voice recognition that could possibly help. But even going online to research the program was a challenge. I happened to mention it to a client of mine. Without even blinking he announced that “he was giving me an early Christmas present”. He would send his computer guy over to to load the program on my computer if I thought it would help me. Are you serious?
The next day his techie guy showed up with the program and successfully loaded it onto my computer. Talk about a random act of kindness, he barely knows me, but he was kind enough to recognize I needed help. I was so overwhelmed by this incredible act I immediately called my client and thanked him profusely. I could not believe what he had done for me. His reply was “if it makes your life easier, then it’s worth it”. I am still in awe that someone would be this considerate. I can tell you it’s certainly enforced my opinion of what a wonderful man he is. Considering he is a client of mine, looking for a great match, it certainly didn’t hurt his karma. What woman wouldn’t want to meet a great guy like that?
When was the last time you did something for someone else out of the goodness of your heart? When was the last time someone did something just for you? How did you feel? Wouldn’t the world be a better place if we all took a minute and try to help someone else? Is there someone you know that needs help right now? Do you need help? Like a lot of us I have a hard time asking for help but I certainly appreciate any random act of kindness. From the bottom of my heart, I am so grateful and you can bet I will do everything in my power to return the favor.
PS this is my first post written with my new Dragon voice recognition program. There is a definite learning curve and I’m still dealing with partial fogginess of my cornea so please excuse any typos.
